M/V Auto Energy gets a visit from the Norwegian Ambassador to Finland at the Port of Hanko

A special visit from the Norwegian Ambassador to Finland

Oslo, Norway - 21.12.2017

UECC’s Dual Fuel LNG PCTC M/V Auto Energy had a special visit from the Norwegian Ambassador to Finland, Mr. Åge B. Grutle, on 15th December 2017 at the Port of Hanko.

Mr. Åge B. Grutle had been invited by Mr. Anders Ahlvik (CEO Port of Hanko / Norwegian Consul) to Hanko.

It has been a tradition to invite the Norwegian Ambassador to Finland to Hanko in the middle of December every year. Each visit will usually bring them to a lunch with the city politicians and visiting various local businesses.

This year, they visited Assistor Ltd, a logistics company specialized in PDI car logistics in the Freeport of Hanko.

“I also wanted to show the Ambassador the world’s first and biggest LNG driven Roro PCTC M/V Auto Energy, which is owned by UECC, a Norwegian shipping company,” says Mr. Anders Ahlvik.

Both Mr. Anders Ahlvik and Mr. Åge B. Grutle were given a full tour of the remarkable vessel, including the bridge where thoughts and ideas were exchanged with the Captain of M/V Auto Energy; Mr. Bruno Carvalho.

When asked about his thoughts of UECC and the LNG vessel, and of “green shipping’/environmental technology”, Mr. Åge B. Grutle commented,“I expect Norwegian shipping to be in the forefront of green shipping and it is nice to see that this is precisely where UECC is. Since the Baltic Sea is a laboratory for green shipping, it seems particularly appropriate that the company is doing pioneering work on a Baltic Sea route. I’m sure Norwegian shipping and UECC will continue to lead in this field. As a Norwegian Ambassador, this makes me proud. As Norway’s ambassador to Finland, I am also happy that there is evidence of Norwegian-Finnish cooperation onboard such as Wärtsilä generators.”
