COVID-19 outbreak and the impact on UECC’s liner trading network – General update

Dear UECC Customer

We hope that you all and your families are doing relatively well during this very challenging time.  We are doing relatively well here at UECC and our focus is on staying healthy, operating our liner trading network and planning for the future.

More than a week has passed since our last update.  We are still able to operate our liner trading network, although with a reduced sailing frequency and longer lead times, as a result of less cargo in the pipeline and lower productivity in the ports.  As more or less all the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the European automotive industry have now suspend their production, it is encouraging to see that some of them are starting to announce dates of resuming the production.  In this respect, it is extremely important that you keep us informed regarding your specific plans, for us to take this into consideration for our future liner trading network planning.

As stated above, we continue to operate our liner trading network.  However, there are still adaptations taking place quite rapidly and as a result of this we have not published an updated fleet schedule.  If you have any specific questions related to our fleet schedule, please contact your Key Account Manager, or your regular contact at UECC, and they will be pleased to provide you with the required fleet schedule details.

We would like to reiterate that we have been through major crisis before, but not of a magnitude like this, but as UECC we will overcome this one also.  We have and will continue to take swift actions to mitigate this.  Also, if you have any needs for any irregular shipments as a result of this crisis, please let us know and let’s support each other during this challenging time!

In closing we would like to say that it is encouraging to see that some of the OEMs have started to announce dates of resuming the production, but at the same time we ask for your patience when it comes to operating UECC’s normal liner trading network again, as it will take some time to deploy our fleet into the required ports.
